Cooee Point Reserve

Discover Cooee Point Reserve — a stunning coastal stopover just 2.5 kilometers from Burnie’s vibrant town center. Perfect for fully self-contained* caravans, motor homes, and RVs, it’s the ideal place to relax and enjoy Tasmania’s natural beauty for up to two nights. To protect this pristine reserve and its protected penguin colony, no pets are permitted and permits are required. Please avoid washing up or releasing grey water on the ground, be courteous with your litter, and use the bins provided. Cooee Point is unserviced, but drinking water and liquid waste points are close at hand.

*Self-contained recreational vehicle means shower, washing, toilet, cooking and sleeping must be contained within your vehicle. No water is to be let out onto the ground, surrounding bushes or the sea. Help us protect this special place — leave no trace.

Camping on Cooee Point, in a tent, or in a vehicle that does not have its own water supply, washing and toilet facilities with a waste water tank, is not permitted.
Dogs are also not permitted.

Camping on a Council Reserve

Camping without a Permit is prohibited on all Council reserves in the Burnie municipal area.

The Council does not generally permit camping in any form on a Council reserve.

The Council will only grant a Permit for a fully self-contained motorhome, campervan or caravan to camp for a limited period and subject to terms and conditions within the designated free camping area on Cooee Point, Cooee. Camping on Cooee Point in a tent or in a vehicle which does not have its own water supply, washing and toilet facilities, and a waste water tank is NOT permitted.
