Camdale Development Proposal

The proposed $35 million Strait Hotel at Camdale Beach will feature 72 beachfront rooms, luxury apartments, dining venues, and conference facilities. Led by Tasmanian developer Errol Stewart of JMC Property Group, the project aims to elevate the visitor experience along the Bass Strait while honouring the coastal landscape. In July 2025, the developer sought community feedback on the proposal.

Burnie City Centre Urban Plan

The Final Version of the Burnie City Centre Urban Plan has been adopted by Council at the February Council meeting.

The City Centre Urban Plan will transform the Burnie City Centre to create a vibrant and engaging place to work, live, shop and socialise.

Since 2009, the Coastal Pathway development in Burnie has included sections from Emu River to Red Rock and Cooee to Cam River, featuring shared bike paths and walking tracks.
