Marinus Link Project Updates

Community consultation is underway through the public exhibition of the Community Benefit and Sustainability Fund (CBSF), a $20 million legacy and community benefit program linked to the Marinus Link project.

The consultation process includes an online survey and targeted stakeholder engagement to gather feedback on the draft framework. The exhibition period runs until Sunday 7 June 2026,

Burnie Coastal Pathway

Since 2009, the Coastal Pathway development in Burnie has included sections from Emu River to Red Rock and Cooee to Cam River, featuring shared bike paths and walking tracks.

Burnie Bicentenary 2027

In 2027, Pataway/Burnie will mark 200 years since European settlement. Council and the Bicentenary Committee are beginning to plan activities and would love to hear your ideas.

West Park Precinct Masterplan

The West Park Precinct Masterplan aims to enhance the usability and amenities of the West Park Precinct, making it a more inclusive space for the community.

Burnie City Centre Urban Plan

The Final Version of the Burnie City Centre Urban Plan was adopted by Council at the February 2025 Council meeting.

The City Centre Urban Plan will transform the Burnie City Centre to create a vibrant and engaging place to work, live, shop and socialise.

Camdale Development Proposal

The proposed $35 million Strait Hotel at Camdale Beach will feature 72 beachfront rooms, luxury apartments, dining venues, and conference facilities. Led by Tasmanian developer Errol Stewart of JMC Property Group, the project aims to elevate the visitor experience along the Bass Strait while honouring the coastal landscape. In July 2025, the developer sought community feedback on the proposal.
