Public Question Time

Anyone may submit a question to be read out at Public Question Time during a Council Meeting. All public questions are required to be submitted by 5pm the Friday before the Council Meeting.

You can submit your question online below or obtain a form from Customer Services. There is a limit of two questions per person.

Please note:

  • You do not need to be present at the meeting to ask your question
  • If you are in attendance at the meeting, you will be invited by the Mayor to read out your question. Please use the microphone as directed
  • If it is not possible to answer the question at the meeting, the General Manager will provide a written answer within 10 days
  • All questions must be in writing and the question and answer cannot be debated
  • The Mayor may refuse to accept a question
  • Parliamentary Privilege does not apply at Council Meetings
  • Council Meetings are recorded

Tasmanian Public Health advise that masks, along with other COVID-safe behaviours, remain an important way to help reduce the risk of COVID-19. Although not mandatory in most situations, mask wearing is still recommended in indoor settings especially where physical distancing is not possible.
