CBD Collection Services

Cardboard recycling

From September 2025, there are three defined zones: CBD, Inzone and Outzone: Kerbside Collection Zones

CBD Waste Collection

Weekly Tuesday kerbside collections, bins out by 6am.

Businesses in the CBD can apply for a weekly Tuesday collection for general waste and cardboard, which is included in the property rates.  You’ll receive bin ID stickers to show you’re eligible, and you’ll just need to provide your own bins.

Need extra waste services? No problem. You can organise additional weekly collections through a private provider (see contacts below), or apply to Council for a fee-for-service option that’s invoiced monthly.

CBD Cardboard Collection

Weekly Tuesday CBD cardboard collections 4-7pm.

CBD businesses can join Council’s Cardboard Collection Service by registering a collection point. Once registered, you can put out up to 2m³ of flattened neatly stacked and secured cardboard in a safe, easy-access spot after 2:30pm on Tuesdays to keep footpaths clear and safe.

Please keep an eye on your collection point, especially on windy days, to make sure everything stays tidy. These simple steps help keep the service running smoothly for everyone.

CBD Recycling - By private arrangement

Recycling services such as office paper collection in the CBD are arranged privately with local waste operators. Because kerb and storage space is limited in the CBD, the regional 3-bin fortnightly service (FOGO and recycling) isn’t available here at this stage. Council will look at future options as part of the Urban Planning project.

Note: From September 2025 businesses outside of the CBD zone can access the regional fortnightly 3-bin kerbside service and the Council Cardboard collection outside of the CBD will cease.  Extra waste, cardboard or recycling needs can be arranged directly with private operators.

Commercial Waste Collection Operators

For additional services such as landfill waste, recycling, paper shredding, or cardboard collections, commercial waste operators offer flexible skip collection options in 240L or 660L sizes throughout the region

CBD Urban Planning

Council recognises that bin placement and storage in the CBD present unique challenges. We invite CBD businesses to participate in a brief survey to identify their additional waste needs and current waste management challenges. The findings will be reviewed as part of urban redesign efforts.
