Living

Burnie is a diverse and attractive city that celebrates its industrial past and embraces its creative future. Council is focused on Burnie's livability for its residents, while renewing infrastructure to help attract population growth, tourism and business investment.

Pets and Animals

Pets play a positive role in the community's wellbeing, and bring pleasure and companionship to many residents.

Waste Recovery and Recycling

Council encourages landfill diversion by providing fortnightly kerbside waste, recycling, and FOGO collections, as well as litter and CBD cardboard pickups. Green waste and recoverable materials are sorted at the Burnie Waste Management Centre and transferred to Dulverton.

Healthy Home Environment

As a community, we each play a vital role in maintaining a harmonious and healthy living environment. By being mindful of our actions and their impact on others, we can collectively prevent environmental nuisances—such as excessive noise, smoke, pests, and rubbish—that may cause distress or disrupt the well-being of our neighbours.

Environment

Burnie has both natural and built environments that are respected and cared for. Find out more about our natural resources, water, waste, energy and air.

Emergency Management

What to do in the case of an emergency and where to find the most trusted source of information.

Our collective vision is for a clean, green, economically strong city, known for its natural beauty, industrial heritage and new forms of making.
