CBD Collections

Cardboard recycling

Council recognises that bin placement and storage in the CBD present unique challenges. We invite CBD businesses to participate in a brief survey to identify their additional waste needs and current waste management challenges. The findings will be reviewed as part of urban redesign efforts.

CBD Waste Needs Survey

CBD Waste Collection

Businesses in the CBD can apply for a weekly Tuesday collection for general waste and cardboard, included in their rates. Bin stickers will be provided to show collection eligibility, but businesses will need to supply their own bins.

For a transition period, Council will also offer additional waste pickups through a contractor, available on a fee-for-service basis (invoiced monthly). You can apply via the Kerbside Collection Form. Due to limited kerb and storage space in the CBD, the regional 3-bin fortnightly service (including FOGO and recycling) isn’t available yet. Future inclusion will be considered as part of Council’s Urban Planning project.

CBD Cardboard Collection

Businesses in the CBD may access Council's Cardboard Collection Service by registering a collection point.  Once registered, a business may place a maximum of 2m3 of neatly stacked cardboard out for collection, in a location that can be safely and easily accessed.

Cardboard is collected weekly on Tuesday evenings from 5-7pm. Cardboard must not be placed out until the afternoon on a Tuesday.

Businesses that place cardboard out for collection are responsible for maintaining their collection point until the collection occurs. This includes monitoring the area during adverse weather conditions, such as strong winds. Failing to adhere to these guidelines may result in the removal of the collection service

Note: From September 2025, the Council Cardboard collection outside of the CBD will cease.

Recyclables

CBD - Office paper and other recycling collections in the CBD are provided by private arrangement with a local waste collection operator.

Note: From September 2025 businesses outside of the CBD can access the regional fortnightly 3-bin kerbside service. Additional waste and recycling services are provided by private arrangement with a local waste collection operator.

Commercial Waste Collection Operators

For additional services such as landfill waste, recycling, paper shredding, or cardboard collections, commercial waste operators offer flexible skip collection options in 240L or 660L sizes throughout the region
