Update: Tuesday 6 June 2023

We have postponed this job due to a very wet forecast, as it is not ideal to take off a roof and potentially cause more damage to the building.

We will update the community when work are rescheduled.

An Asbestos contractor will be commencing work on the removal of asbestos sheeting from the roof of the Upper Burnie Memorial Hall on the 5th June 2023.

These works will entail the closure of the Public Toilets and access to the hall from the morning of the 5th until the afternoon of the 8th June whilst the roof sheeting is replaced with a new product. The replacement works being undertaken by Council’s Building Maintenance team.

It will be necessary to block the section of footpath off in front of the Hall and to also close the DDA car parking space whilst the works are in progress. All appropriate signage will be put in place during the works for the publics safety.

Due to the potential to disturb hazardous material (asbestos) we kindly ask the public to remain at a safe distance to the site.
