This Friday – 31 March – the keys will be handed from UTAS to Mayor Brumby at 11am, symbolising the formal handover of the new building to Burnie City Council. The new band room will provide generous and contemporary accommodation for the Burnie Highland Pipe Band.

On Saturday 1 April, there will be a Community Open Day between 10am and 2pm to provide an opportunity for the community to inspect these new facilities, as the Burnie Highland Pipe Band takes occupancy.

“Most councillors were able to inspect the new band rooms that have been constructed by UTAS at West Park and I have to say, they are magnificent! You really need to see it in person to understand just what a brilliant architectural design it is, and more importantly the phenomenal sea views that will no doubt inspire the budding musicians in our city!

Please come on down once you've attended the Easter Egg Hunt at the Burnie Park this Saturday and inspect the facilities that will be open from 10 - 2pm. The Burnie Highland Pipe Band will be playing to celebrate this fantastic occasion.

This is truly an excellent outcome for the City - to have these state of the art buildings available for community use!”

 Mayor Teeny Brumby

The new band room is located behind West Park Oval – opposite Burnie Park.
