Work has commenced on the Cultural Precinct redevelopment. The Burnie Arts Centre will remain open, with some changes to the usual operating conditions.

The Burnie Arts Centre within the Burnie Cultural Precinct, comprises a large multi-functional auditorium, a 370-seat proscenium arch theatre, and five additional function rooms.

The Centre’s entire event space is 1,700 square metres, providing the region with a facility that caters for large undercover expos. The complex has a wide range of high quality audio and visual equipment, including professional lighting, projection, and sound systems – suitable for live performances, conferences and presentations.

An annual performing arts subscription season is presented throughout the year, featuring a variety of local, Tasmanian, national and international artists.

Established in the 1970s, the Civic Centre, later known as the Burnie Arts & Function Centre, has hosted a variety of gatherings, including formal events, charity dinners, and debutante balls. Boasting onsite catering services, function rooms, coupled with parking space and a dedicated team of professionals, it stands out as the ideal venue for any occasion.

The Burnie Cultural Precinct is well on its way to becoming a vibrant, inclusive, and accessible hub for all members of the community.
