Brooklyn Road Safety Upgrades

Council is partnering with the State Government through the Vulnerable Road User program to improve safety on Brooklyn Road at the junction with the walking track.

Burnie City Centre Urban Plan

The City Centre Urban Plan will transform the Burnie City Centre to create a vibrant and engaging place to work, live, shop and socialise.

Announcement : Burnie Council received funding of $17.3 million from the Tasmanian Government to commence implementing the Plan once developed.

Burnie Courts Complex Relocation Project

The $86.5 million Complex at 100–106 Wilson Street will include a Supreme Court, two Magistrates Courts, a Family Court and a shared courtroom. Designs by Xsquared Architects were released in Oct 2025.

Batchelor Construction completed demolition Jan 2026. Fairbrother was awarded the construction contract in May 2026, with construction commencing in Jun and completion expected in 2028

Burnie Lawn Cemetery - Footpath replacement

Kindly be advised that Council’s Civil team will commence footpath replacement works at the Lawn Cemetery from Monday 18 May.
