From September 2025, all properties within the Serviced Inzone will have a consistent 3-bin fortnightly kerbside collection service, included in rates and delivered by Council’s regional contractor, Veolia.
The new service model is designed to reduce waste and increase recycling, with optimised collection routes that serve more properties efficiently while keeping the charge per tenement low.
Collections alternate between the green-lid FOGO bin one week and the red-lid landfill and yellow-lid recycling bins together the next:
Note: Old bins can be dropped off at the Waste Management Centre or the Burnie Men’s shed for recycling.
Collection Guidelines - Inzone
Please place bins at your designated kerbside collection point together the night before, or by 6 am on collection day.
For questions about using the service, please get in touch with the NWRRR hotline at hello@nwrrr.com.au or (03) 6427 4646.

To help make kerbside collections easy and reliable for everyone, here are a few simple steps that will keep things running smoothly:
- Only the bins assigned to your property will be collected.

- Don’t overfill your bin, make sure the lid can close, and try to keep the weight under 50kg.

- Leave about 1m between bins, and ensure they are clear of cvehiclees, poles, and trees, so the collection truck can access them easily.

- After collection, please return your bins inside your property boundary within 24 hours.

Bin Responsibilities
Council provides bins assigned to each property tenement in the serviced Inzone (outside the CBD).
Bins must stay with the property they are assigned to, even if they are not used.
Looking after your bins helps keep the service safe and consistent:
- If your bin lid, wheels, or axles are damaged, give Veolia a call on 6427 4646 and they’ll help.

- If your bin was out on time but not collected, contact Veolia directly on 6427 4646.

By following these simple steps, you’re helping keep our streets safe, tidy, and accessible making sure collections stay smooth for everyone in the community.

Related Information

- Pack waste loosely so bins can be emptied safely.

- Do not place sharp or hazardous items in bins to avoid damage or injury.

- Let hot materials cool completely before placing them in the bin, to prevent fire hazards.

Looking after yourself when moving bins
We care about your safety when moving bins to the kerb. Safe handling depends on the bin’s weight, the slope of the ground, and your own capacity and strength.
A few simple tips can make a big difference:
Know your limits
- On slopes, rough ground, or uneven surfaces, aim for a maximum of 30–50 kg.

- On flat, smooth ground, a wheelie bin should weigh no more than 70 kg (including the bin and contents).

Safer ways to move your bin
- Whenever possible, push rather than pull; it’s easier on your body and gives you more control.

- Use both hands, keep the bin close, and take your time.

- Be extra careful on steep gradients and don’t overfill your bin.

- Know your limits, everyone’s strength is different, so only move a bin when it feels safe for you.

These simple steps help protect you, your neighbours, and the crews who collect your waste.

Inzone properties
Council provides bins for a consistent 3-bin fortnightly kerbside collection service, available to all property types.  The collection charge per tenement is included in the property rates.
