Kerbside Bin Collection Services

Alternating

Quicklinks

From September 2025, all properties within the serviced Inzone (outside the CBD) receive a three‑bin, fortnightly kerbside collection service, included in property rates and delivered by Council’s contractor Veolia.

The service is designed to reduce landfill by diverting recycling and FOGO, with optimised routes that balance minimising cost with maximising the number of properties serviced.

Collections alternate fortnightly:

  • Week 1: Green‑lid FOGO bin
  • Week 2: Red‑lid Landfill bin and Yellow‑lid Recycling bin

Collection Guidelines - Inzone

Place all bins at your designated kerbside collection point the night before, or by 6 am on collection day.

For questions about using the service, please get in touch with the NWRRR hotline at hello@nwrrr.com.au or (03) 6427 4646.

Easy steps for smooth collections

  • Only bins assigned to your property will be collected.
  • Do not overfill bins, lids must close fully
  • Keep bin weight under 50 kg
  • Leave 1m between bins
  • Keep bins clear of cars, poles, trees, and power boxes
  • When parking, leave space for bins to be safely collected
  •  Return bins inside your property boundary within 24 hours of collection.

Bin Responsibilities

  • Council provides bins to each property within the serviced Inzone
  • Bins are assigned to the property
  • Bins must remain with the property, even if unused or when occupants change
  • Bins in Windy Weather

Contact Veolia on (03) 6427 4646 if: Your bin lid, wheels, hinges, or axle are damaged by collection.

Looking after your bins helps keep streets safe, tidy, and accessible for everyone.

Safety Tips

Preparing waste

  • Place waste loosely in bins so they can empty safely
  • Do not place sharp or hazardous items in bins
  • Allow hot materials to cool completely before disposal

Your safety matters when moving bins to the kerb, Know your limits

  • On slopes or uneven ground: aim for 30–50 kg maximum
  • On flat, smooth surfaces: bins should not exceed 70 kg (including bin weight)

Safer handling tips

  • Push rather than pull where possible
  • Use both hands and keep the bin close to your body
  • Take extra care on steep gradients
  • Do not move a bin if it feels unsafe for you

These steps protect you, your neighbours, and collection crews.

Rethink Waste

Everything in your red‑lid bin goes to landfill, so diverting waste to recycling and FOGO makes a real difference.

With the rollout of FOGO, we’re working towards 60% less waste going to landfill across the Cradle Coast.

The landfill levy helps fund recycling, education, and circular economy programs across Tasmania. By choosing to Avoid, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, we can all make a big difference.

This initiative is delivered by Cradle Coast Waste Management Group, Circular North, and TasWaste South, in partnership with the Tasmanian Government.
