Bike Week
Next date: Sunday, 01 March 2026 | 12:00 AM
to Saturday, 07 March 2026 | 12:00 PM
From March 1 – 8, it's Bike Week, the perfect time to get outside, enjoy Burnie’s beautiful scenery, and ride in safe and appropriate areas around the city!
Whether it’s a cruise along the Coastal Pathway, a ride through our parks and reserves, or a fun family bike day, there’s no better way to enjoy the fresh air and stay active!
Did you know that 80% of work trips under 5km are taken by car? Burnie City Council is working on an Active Transport Strategy to make walking and cycling a more convenient and attractive choice for short trips in and around our city.
Encouraging more people to walk, cycle, scooter, or skate means:

Healthier communities

Less traffic congestion

Stronger local businesses

A cleaner, greener Burnie!

Google Maps - Cycling layer
We’ve been adding our walking tracks and cycling trails to Google Maps
Just switch on the cycling layer to see them. There is an approval process to work through, but we’re making good progress.
The best part? When people ask for directions, they now see more walking and cycling options. 🚶🚴♀️
