A stormwater drain is infrastructure designed to drain excess rain and ground water from impervious surfaces such as paved streets, car parks, parking lots, footpaths, sidewalks, and roofs.

Burnie City Council manages an extensive urban stormwater reticulation, within the City and the Ridgley township.
