Cooee Pillar Project showcases local student creativity

Burnie City Council has officially unveiled the Cooee Pillar Project, transforming the Cooee pillars into a colourful public art display featuring designs created by local Burnie students.

The project followed a motion from Cr. Amina Keygan last year and has been coordinated by the Burnie Youth Council, which spent recent months collecting design templates and artwork submissions from schools across Burnie. After reviewing the entries, Youth Councillors selected eight winning designs to be brought to life on the pillars.

The winning schools are Burnie High School (two designs), Stella Maris Catholic School (two designs), Natone Primary School, Leighland Christian School, Ridgley Primary School and Burnie Primary School.

Burnie City Council thanks every student who submitted an artwork, the participating schools, Burnie Youth Council and Cr. Amina Keygan for their contribution to the project, which celebrates local creativity and community pride.

Residents are encouraged to visit Cooee and experience the artworks for themselves.
