Updated business advisory services

The delivery of free and independent business advice, funded by the Tasmanian Government, has been updated. Two new services, the Tasmanian Business Advice Service and the New Business Support Pilot Program are now available.

The Tasmanian Business Advice Service

This service provides up to five hours of advice and guidance for established small businesses. This service is open to small businesses that employ 19 or fewer Full Time Equivalent (FTE) employees and who have held an Australian Business Number (ABN) for at least 12 months.

Experienced advisors can assist with a wide range of topics including:

  • managing cashflow
  • marketing
  • risk management
  • diversification strategies
  • small business planning, and 
  • mall business strategy

 

The New Business Support Pilot Program

This service provides up to two hours of advice and guidance for new businesses or those intending to start a business. This service is offered to businesses without an ABN, or those that have had an ABN for less than 12 months and employ fewer than 19 FTEs.

Advisors under this program can assist with topics like establishing a business structure, determining business viability, financial forecasting and identifying new opportunities.

Accessing these services

To access the new services, businesses can visit businessadvice.tas.gov.au and complete the simple registration form. You can also contact Business Tasmania on 1800 440 026 or ask@business.tas.gov.au for assistance with registration, or to discuss the information and support available to start and run a business. 

Tasmanian Business Advice and Support Roadshow

From 23 October 2023, Business Tasmania are running the Tasmanian Business Advice and Support Roadshow across eight locations around the state.
