Can I use bin liners?

Loose is Lovely and Layer up!!

To reduce the risk of contamination, please do not use any bin liner in your FOGO bin, simply put your scraps loose into a container or paper shopping bag to carry out and empty it into, the FOGO bin.

  • Line your kitchen container with a paper towel or newspaper.
  • Place paper or cardboard at the bottom of your bin to soak up leaks and prevent waste from sticking.

While some bags and bin liners are marketed as “compostable,” they may still contain microplastics that contaminate the compost reducing the quality. All bagged fogo will be rejected at the Dulverton composting facility.
