Pathfinders Orienteering Club (NWTas)

Orienteering is a competitive international sport. It is a timed race through natural bushland, parks or streets in which individual participants have to find their own way around a course using a specially created, highly detailed map, to select routes and navigate through diverse and often unfamiliar terrain, visiting control points in sequence.

Each course is designed to test the orienteers physical strength, decision making and navigation skills. Every event will have a number of courses of differing lengths and difficulty levels suitable for all ages and abilities ranging from very easy to technically difficult occurring at the same time. The basic skills of orienteering, map reading and compass use, are easy to develop. As experience increases, finer points are learned which combine athletic and thinking skills. Courses also can be enjoyed as a walk in the woods.

With maps in the Devonport, Burnie and Ulverstone areas we cater for the needs of competitive runners and schools from Sheffield to Wynyard.
