Futuna Ave and West Park Grove Roundabout

The intersection of Futuna Avenue and West Park Grove has been identified as a safety concern due to a history of near-misses, poor visibility, and difficult turning movements, particularly during peak traffic periods.

Works to construct the roundabout at Futuna Ave and West Park Grove will commence on 13 January 2025. Harding's Group will be the contractor undertaking the works.

During the construction traffic control will be in place to lower speeds, and some delays may occur.

This project has received funding under the Australian Government Black Spot Program

Futuna Ave and West Park Grove Roundabout is completed.
Council thanks the local community for your patience during these works, and to contractors Harding's Group for the delivery of the safer roundabout. The roundabout was sealed and line-marked in early May and appears to be operating well.

 

TasNetworks is currently undertaking lighting design for the intersection. Works will be completed in the new financial year.

From Tuesday 6th May to Thursday 8th May, Futuna Avenue will be closed from Paraka Street to West Park Grove for road sealing.

We kindly ask all road users to follow all traffic management, including detour signage during this time.

Monday 14 April 2025

Construction of the project has begun. New kerb and channel, and footpath has been poured. Roundabout core and traffic islands will be constructed in the coming weeks. Road base material and asphalt sealing to be completed.

From Monday 14th April to Thursday 17th April, Futuna Avenue will be closed from Paraka Street to West Park Grove. Road closure and detour maps(PDF, 887KB)

Roundabout Construction Schedule:
  • Monday, 14th April: Begin deep lift placement at West Park Grove/ Futuna intersection.
  • Tuesday, 15th April: Start construction of the roundabout.
  • Wednesday, 16th April: Concrete pour for the roundabout with 60mpa
  • Thursday, 17th April: Asphalt installation around the roundabout to ensure safe navigation for vehicles.
