Consultation outcome

Council has considered feedback received during the community consultation on the proposed raised pedestrian crossing on View Road.

Feedback was closely divided between the two proposed locations, with 51% supporting one location and 49% supporting the alternative.

Following consideration of community feedback, Council’s Active Transport Strategy, traffic data and the long-term objectives of the project, Location 1, between View Road Reserve and Grandview Avenue, was identified as providing the greatest overall benefit to the community.

The raised crossing will help improve pedestrian connectivity and provide an opportunity to reduce vehicle speeds along View Road.

Feedback also highlighted the need for a future upgrade to the Grandview Avenue intersection crossing, which will be considered as part of Council’s longer-term planning.

What we heard

Council received 49 responses, with feedback closely divided between the two proposed locations.

Key themes included:

  • Pedestrian safety
  • Vehicle speeds and traffic flow
  • Accessibility
  • Visibility
  • Connections to existing walking routes
  • The suitability of each proposed location

Community consultation

Council invited residents, businesses, pedestrians, cyclists and other road users to provide feedback on two potential locations for a raised pedestrian crossing on View Road, between West Park Grove and Grandview Avenue.

The consultation was open from 1 July to 22 July 2026.

Why was community feedback sought?

Community members often have valuable local knowledge that can help identify issues and opportunities that may not be apparent through technical assessments alone.

Feedback helped Council better understand:

  • Potential safety concerns
  • Impacts on vehicle access and traffic flow
  • Accessibility considerations

What happens next?

Council will progress the Location 1 option, subject to the necessary design, technical and project requirements.

Feedback regarding improvements to the Grandview Avenue intersection crossing will also be considered as part of Council’s longer-term planning.
