Burnie property owners should shortly receive a notice from the Valuer-General with updated property valuation details for the 2026–27 financial year. The revaluation process is undertaken by the Office of the Valuer-General and updated property values are one of the factors used in calculating council rates. Property valuations may increase or decrease depending on factors such as property improvements, condition changes or surrounding area developments. If you believe your property valuation is incorrect, you must contact the Office of the Valuer-General within 60 days of receiving your Valuation Notice. Please note that objections cannot be lodged later when rates notices are issued, and Council cannot change property valuations. Anyone who has not received their Valuation Notice by mid-June 2026 is encouraged to contact the Office of the Valuer-General directly.
