Congratulations Burnie! You've returned 3 Million containers at the Emu Bay RVM location.

That's an average of 9600 containers per day - and it's increasing!

The story gets even bigger – Recycle Rewards has just launched the new Dashboard and Impact Calculator, which has just gone live on their website:

This launch coincides with Tasmania returning 100 million containers in just 11 months since the container refund scheme launched May 2025.

Dashboard and Impact Calculator shows the environmental benefits of recycling 100 million drink containers include:

  • Carbon dioxide emission savings equivalent to taking 7,500 cars off the road for a year
  • Energy savings equivalent to powering 1,700 homes for a year
  • Water savings equivalent to 250 Olympic-sized swimming pools

The Dashboard provides Tasmanians with an update on how many eligible containers have been returned, what types of container have been returned, and how much has been donated to Donation Partners.

Excitingly, 100 million containers is more than 10,000 times the height of Kunanyi / Mount Wellington and 8,000 times the height of Cradle Mountain - which really puts the fantastic achievements of Tasmanians participating in the scheme over the last 11 months into perspective!

The Impact Calculator will help Tasmanians track and understand the real-world differences that their recycling efforts are making to the environment in terms of carbon emissions, energy and water savings. It is based on an independent life cycle assessment which has also been peer reviewed. You can find out more here.

Highlights:

  • Burnie is currently 16th for container returns in Tasmania per capita.
  • The North-West has the highest number of containers returned per person
