πŸŽ‰And we have a winner!πŸŽ‰

Meet Callum & Murray – the now officially named Burnie Sea Creatures πŸ¦‘πŸ¦‘ at the Waterfront.

A huge thanks to Gabrielle Mundy, who submitted the winning names! We had some fantastic suggestions, but this pair was easily the crowd favourite.

Keep an eye out – a shiny new plaque will be installed at the foreshore soon. Thanks again to everyone who got involved and helped bring a little extra fun to our community!

Burnie Foreshore Water Sculpture
Installed as part of the waterfront upgrade initiated in 2011 and completed in February 2012.The  Burnie Water Sculpture has become a beloved landmark in Burnie known for its love of art, sun, and surf. Nestled beside the surf club, the interactive water play area features a whimsical underwater scene with two vibrant sea creatures and swaying kelp strands, all brought to life by jets that squirt and spray water (to the delight and surprise of many). Designed as both a public art installation and a child’s water play zone, the space invites squeals and splashes, with colourful underwater frieze imagery adorning nearby benches where kids can sit, leap, or dash along to dodge the spray. It’s a joyful fusion of sculpture, storytelling, and seaside fun, Burnie’s playful spirit cast in water and colour.
