On this Tuesday night, the Burnie City Council will livestream the open portion of the Council meeting to the Burnie community for the first time.

This is the first project in the Council’s Digital Transformation journey which aims for the Council to:

  • Be faster and more efficient in how we do things
  • Look at opportunities to service our community in ways that meet their expectations
  • Be open and more transparent
  • Be easier to deal with and collaborate with
  • Deliver more value to our community, with less effort
  • Reduce cost

Mayor Steve Kons said “Livestreaming is something that the Council have been wanting to achieve for a number of years now.  I am delighted that it is here and what an important step in ensuring that our council meetings are more accessible to all members of our community.

Livestreaming is really just broadcasting our meeting live online from our website.  With COVID still impacting how comfortable we are in moving about, this will enable everyone to tune in and listen to Council meetings from the comfort of their own home.”

The open portion of the meeting commences at 7pm on Tuesday night, 26 July 2022.  The link to the livestream is available from Council’s website at webcast.burnie.tas.gov.au.  A copy of this livestream will also be made available on this link the day after the meeting.
