You will run it. We'll help fund it.

EOIs open Monday 8 January 2024 and close midnight on Sunday 25 February 2024

Burnie City Council is seeking applications to conduct a number of vibrant events across our City during the 2024 year!

From a CBD Light up the Night Festival, to a regular Friday Night bEATS Market. If you have an event idea – together, we can bring it into reality!

Some events we supported last year:

  • We contributed $15,000 towards Burnie's Musical Society Youth Program to assist with the continuous program and produce two major productions.
  • $5,000 towards Burnie’s Carol by Candlelight family friendly community event. An amazing success!
  • Council also supported Sea FMs and 7BUS 2023 New Years Eve Event - Fire on the Foreshore. One of the biggest crowds we have seen in years!

We are again seeking applications to conduct a number of vibrant events across our City during the 2024 year!

Some events ideas we want to see come to life this year

• Dinner Under the Stars - to coincide with the visit of a premium cruise ship

• A Family Christmas Parade

• A Beach Party - including a sandcastle competition

• International Women’s and Men's Day events

• New Years Eve Community Event

• A regular evening festival celebrating our local food and beverage offerings

• Australia Day and/or community celebration

• Easter Fun at Burnie Park

• A CBD Light Up the Night Festival

• A regular City Market

• A multicultural event

• A winter solstice event

• Opening Events for the Coastal Pathway

We want to partner with the community and organisations so that we can provide funding and assistance, while our partner organisation takes charge of the arrangements.

Council can offer in return

• Funding for the event

• Guidance to help you create your event

• Where needed, mentoring in how to navigate any Council processes

• Promotion and advertising of your event to a wide audience

• Training (mid 2024) in the things you need to know to conduct a successful event

So, tell us in two paragraphs or less:

  • Your outlined vision for your event
  • Date and proposed location for your event
  • What type of support you will need from Council

💻 Email your Expression of Interest (EOI) with an outline of your major event idea - to events@burnie.tas.gov.au by 25 February 2024.

This EOI process for major events is separate to the Community Grants program being offered.  Funding for these events is set aside in Council’s budget and is guaranteed – we just need a partner!
