Business Systems Project Officer

Applications closing on 21 July 2026, 05:00 PM

Help shape the way Council works.

At Burnie City Council, we are committed to finding better ways to deliver services to our community. As we continue to modernise and improve our business systems, we are looking for a Business Systems Project Officer to join our Business Improvement team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving processes and working closely with people to make positive change happen. You will play a key role in supporting projects that enhance the systems our people rely on every day, helping deliver smarter, more efficient services for our community.

About the role

Working across a range of business areas, you will help identify opportunities to improve processes, support business system projects, assist with testing and implementation, and develop practical training resources that help staff confidently adopt new ways of working.

No two days will be the same. One day you might be mapping business processes with operational teams, the next you will be testing new system functionality, analysing data or creating user guides that make complex processes simple.

If you enjoy variety, collaboration and seeing the impact of your work, this role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference.

What you will bring

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience supporting business systems, projects or process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to build positive working relationships with a wide range of people.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • Confidence using Microsoft 365 and business systems.
  • A current driver's licence.

Experience working with ERP or accounting systems, or within Local Government, would be advantageous but isn't essential.

If you have transferable skills and a willingness to learn, we would also love to hear from you.

Why join Burnie City Council?

Working at Burnie City Council means being part of an organisation that is committed to improving the way we serve our community. You will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, work with supportive colleagues and develop your skills in business improvement, systems and project delivery.

If you are passionate about improving systems, supporting change and helping deliver better outcomes for the Burnie community, we would love to hear from you.

Please note that this is a fixed term position until 31 October 2027.
