We are looking for a Parking Officer to join our friendly Compliance Services team at the Burnie City Council.

About the Role

As a Parking Officer, you will play an important part in keeping Burnie’s streets accessible and fair for everyone. You will be responsible for monitoring parking areas, assisting community members, and ensuring that Council’s parking policies and by-laws are applied consistently and professionally.

This is a front-line customer service role that requires a calm, confident communicator who can handle challenging situations with respect and fairness.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Monitor curb-side and metered parking within the Burnie municipal area.
  • Issue infringement notices accurately and in line with Council procedures.
  • Assist members of the public with information and advice.
  • Operate parking facilities, including cash handling and record keeping.
  • Contribute to a positive image of Council and support a safe, inclusive community.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to stay calm and professional in difficult situations.
  • Good attention to detail and record-keeping.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new technology.
  • A team player who can also work independently.
