Executive Manager Finance and Corporate Services

The Burnie City Council is seeking an accomplished and strategic leader to join its Executive Leadership Team as the Executive Manager Finance and Corporate Services.

This key executive position provides high-level strategic and operational leadership across Council’s finance, information and communications technology, information management, customer service, and business improvement functions. The role ensures Council’s internal operations are efficient, customer-focused, compliant, and aligned with long-term strategic objectives.

About the role

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Executive Manager Finance and Corporate Services is responsible for:

  • Delivering sound financial governance and ensuring long-term organisational sustainability.
  • Leading Council’s digital transformation strategy and enhancing corporate systems to improve efficiency and customer experience.
  • Providing trusted advice to the General Manager, Council, and Executive Team to support effective, evidence-based decision making.
  • Driving continuous improvement, building organisational capability, and strengthening financial and corporate performance.

This is a critical leadership role with responsibility for shaping the internal foundations that enable Council to deliver sustainable, high-quality services to the community.

About you

You are an experienced executive with a track record of success in leading diverse corporate service portfolios within complex or highly regulated environments. You bring:

  • Proven expertise in financial management, governance, and strategic planning.
  • Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to inspire high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and communication capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience driving organisational improvement and digital transformation.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and membership of CPA Australia or CA ANZ (or equivalent).
  • An understanding of the local government sector will be highly regarded.
