Councillor Giovanna Simpson was first elected at the 2018 election. She was born and raised in Burnie, attending Marist and Hellyer Colleges.

Cr Simpson is also a Youth Worker for the Department of Education, Children and Young People, a radio announcer for local radio and has had her own business in Burnie for 22 years.

She has one daughter and is active on school committees and sits on the Burnie Youth Network committee as well as organising many community events and fundraisers.

Cr Simpson has been a member of the City Link Board, and chaired the past Burnie Australia Day Special Committee. She  currently represents the City of Burnie on the Burnie City Youth Council Special Committee, as well as a proxy for Upper Natone Reserve Special Committee, and the Burnie City Council Audit Committee.

Cr Giovanna Simpson's priority and passion is to continue the work she does in promoting our city by working with the people of Burnie.

She wants to ensure the wellbeing of our youth, ensuring they have a beautiful and safe place, where they have the best educational facilities and employment opportunities, so they can grow up here and bring up their own families in Burnie.
