Car Tyre Amnesty – North West Tasmania

tyre amnesty

Got old car tyres taking up space in the shed? The Cradle Coast Waste Management Group has arrraged a Car Tyre Amnesty and we’re inviting households across North West Tasmania to dispose of unwanted tyres safely and responsibly.

Run in partnership with Tyrecycle, this event helps remove a hazardous waste stream from the community and ensures tyres are processed in a safe and sustainable way.

A fully refundable $8.80 (inc. GST) holding fee applies at the time of booking to secure your place. If you attend and drop off your registered tyres on the day, the fee will be refunded in full within 7 days. (No-shows will not receive a refund.)

For residents of all Cradle Coast Councils, including: Burnie, Devonport, Central Coast, Waratah-Wynyard, Circular Head, Kentish, and Latrobe.

Round ’em up, register ’em, and roll ’em in!

Cradle Coast Waste Management Group

This initiative is delivered in partnership with the Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Board, and tyre processing by Tyrecycle.

The Cradle Coast Waste Management Group is a collaboration between the seven local councils of North West Tasmania to reduce landfill waste and improve recycling performance. The Group develops an annual regional waste program funded through the State Waste Levy, and oversees its delivery via Dulverton Waste Management’s Cradle Coast Waste Services.

Because this amnesty is funded through the State Landfill Levy, households will not pay the levy fee when disposing of tyres at this event. The levy is recovered from waste disposed to landfill across Tasmania, and all levy funds are reinvested to support services and initiatives that:

  • reduce waste to landfill,
  • increase resource recovery, and
  • help build a more circular local economy.
