- 4pm Friday 16 May Postal vote applications close
- 8am to 6pm Saturday 24 May Polling day
 
Voting is compulsory.
You can vote in person at a polling place on polling day. If you are unable do this, you may be eligible to vote early. The following options are available:
 
- the Burnie City municipal area generally east of Shorewell Creek and south of Hillcrest and South Burnie, including Acton, Brooklyn, Romaine, Emu Heights and Havenview, and
- the Central Coast municipal area, and
- the Western side of the Kentish municipal area including Sheffield and Paradise.
 
 
Tasmanian Parliament Overview
Legislative Council (Upper House)
- Role: Reviews legislation passed by the Lower House.
- Members: 15 members, each representing a single-member electorate.
- Elections: Staggered annually, with members serving 6-year terms.
House of Assembly (Lower House)
- Role: Forms government and passes legislation.
- Members: 35 members (7 from each of 5 electorates).
- Elections: Held every 4 years using the Hare-Clark proportional voting system.
- Premier: The leader of the party (or coalition) that holds the majority becomes the Premier and forms government.
