Did you know…

Between July 2018 and June 2024, Tasmania recorded eight collisions and 311 near misses at level crossings, with most incidents caused by poor choices by road users.

In the 2024–25 reporting year alone, the number of road users failing to stop or give way at level crossings more than doubled, rising from 68 in 2023–24 to 137 incidents. During that same year, there were also two collisions involving trains and other vehicles.

These events affect not only the people involved, but also train drivers, their families, and emergency services. Please consider those who feel the impact of every incident and always exercise caution at level crossings.
