International Women's Day

Burnie City Council and Burnie Library invite you to an engaging and empowering event celebrating the contributions of women and girls in our community.  This event will feature three dynamic panel discussions with local women sharing their insights and experiences on:

• Sustainable Agriculture
• Financial Literacy
• Wellbeing

You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, connect with panelists, and engage with inspiring community members as they roam as living books, sharing their wisdom in an interactive setting.

The Astronomical Society of Tasmania, in partnership with TastroFest and the Australian Space Agency, is hosting a FREE event that’s truly out of this world—proudly supported by Leading Edge Electronics Burnie.

Australia’s first female astronaut shares her journey, insights from astronaut training, and her vision for the future of space exploration.

Brittany Trubody (12:30 PM – 1:00 PM)
Astrophysicist, palaeontologist, museum director, planetarium builder, and Oxford historian—Brittany brings a humorous take on history with “…but you’re a woman!”, exploring how the past shapes today’s celebrations.
