Dark Sky Presentation by Kelly Clitheroe
Next date: Thursday, 02 October 2025 | 07:00 PM
to 08:00 PM
Join the Astronomical Society of Tasmania NW Group for our October Members Talk thanks to UTas Cradle Coast. This month we have another live and in-person presenter, Kelly Clitheroe. Kelly is the current President of Dark Sky Victoria and the Section Director at the Astronomical Society of Victoria - Geelong. She has been a Maths and Science teacher at Bellarine Secondary College for the last 30+ years. Kelly has been passionate about the need for dark skies not only for the environment, but for the health of the community. In her spare time, Kelly practises Astrophotography, is a keen nature photographer and baker of sourdough bread.
Kelly's presentation will be looking at practical reasons for communities to want to protect Dark Skies.
Following Kelly's presentation, feel free to take a walk and explore the boardwalk while enjoying the Little Penguins Colony and observing the lighting of the boardwalk and adjoining areas. Remember to dress warmly and only use a red light (and no flash photography of the penguins)
This is a free event but please RSVP to:
