About the Role:
The Manager Works is a pivotal position responsible for leading and shaping the performance and culture of the Works Unit. You will oversee a diverse portfolio, including:
- Civil Construction (roads and stormwater assets)
- Parks, Reserves, and Recreation Facilities
- Buildings and Facilities
- Plant and Fleet Management
You will work closely with the Works Coordinator and Team Leaders to ensure Council’s programs and projects are delivered safely, on time, to standard, and within budget. This role is strategic, innovative, and highly people-focused that drives positive culture, continuous improvement, and organisational change.
What You Will Do:
- Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing workforce through coaching, empowerment, and accountability.
- Oversee planning, scheduling, and delivery of capital works, operational programs, and maintenance activities.
- Champion safety, compliance, and high-quality service delivery across all functions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and customer outcomes.
- Manage operational budgets, monitor performance targets, and support strategic business planning.
- Represent the Works Unit in executive meetings and participate in after-hours duty management as required.

- Proven experience in strategic leadership, project management, and operational delivery within civil works, facilities, or related areas.
- Strong financial, planning, and people leadership skills.
