CancelledDigital Mentor Program 2025

The Multicultural Council of Tasmania is proud to facilitate a series of Digital Mentor programs in early 2025, made possible by the wonderful team at Good Things Foundation and Libraries Tasmania.

MCOT will host two half-day sessions (three hours per session over two weeks) across at libraries across the state. The sessions will be held between Monday and Friday during February/March/April. This program aims to equip future mentors with the skills to help others feel more confident getting online. Mentors can be people from CALD groups, local community groups, organisations/businesses who have the capacity to upskill others. These people might include members of the aging community, new migrants, people with disabilities, people from remote/regional areas, and local community groups.

The Digital Mentor program will cover topics such as:

  • Using apps and basic software
  • Navigating the internet
  • Fundamental skills like taking photos and making video calls
  • SMS and voice to text

The focus is on teaching our future mentors how to create inclusive, encouraging learning environments and approach teaching effectively. These skills can be applied in workplaces, community groups, or even small personal settings.

After completing the program, you’ll have the opportunity to put your learnings into practice. The program facilitator will periodically check in to ensure you feel supported, and a mentor catch-up session will be organised for later in the year (around two hours) to share experiences and insights.

The Digital Mentor program is free, making it a great opportunity to get involved.
