Day 1 – Burnie

Begin in Burnie browsing boutique shops and admiring the city’s Art Deco and Federation architecture. Visit the Federation Street Museum and Burnie Regional Art Gallery, then enjoy a coastal walk along the foreshore. In Burnie Park, see the Giant Freshwater Crayfish sculpture and stroll to nearby Oldaker Falls. In the afternoon, drive to Hellyer Road Distillery for the Whisky Walk Tour and tastings. End the day with dinner by the waterfront and watch the Burnie Little Penguins return to shore at dusk.

Day 2 – Burnie → Stanley 

Spend the morning visiting Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden and Guide Falls before driving west to Stanley. Ride the chairlift or walk to the summit of The Nut for panoramic coastal views. Visit Highfield House and the giant photo frame, then wander the historic streets lined with colonial cottages. Enjoy fresh crayfish at Hursey’s or a relaxed meal at the local pub.

Day 3 – Stanley → Cradle Mountain

Travel via Wynyard, stopping at Boat Harbour Beach, Table Cape Lighthouse, and the colourful tulip fields in season. Optional visits include Wonders of Wynyard or a creative paper-making tour. Continue inland to Waratah, known for its waterfall and early hydro-powered street lighting. Arrive at Cradle Mountain, explore short lodge trails, and visit the Tasmanian Devil Sanctuary.

Day 4 – Cradle Mountain → Strahan 

Walk around Dove Lake and enjoy the alpine scenery before driving west through rainforest and rugged mountain passes. Optional stops include Rosebery, Tullah, Montezuma Falls, or Zeehan’s West Coast Heritage Centre. Arrive in Strahan and unwind along the waterfront overlooking Macquarie Harbour.

Day 5 – Strahan → Hobart 

Enjoy a long scenic drive south via Queenstown, Derwent Bridge to see The Wall in the Wilderness, Tarraleah, Mt Field National Park for Russell Falls, the Salmon Ponds, and historic New Norfolk. Arrive in Hobart and explore the waterfront and Salamanca Place s.

Day 6 – Hobart → Port Arthur 

Relax at a café in Battery Point before driving to the Tasman Peninsula. Stop at Eaglehawk Neck, the Tessellated Pavement, Tasman’s Arch, Devil’s Kitchen, Blowhole, and Waterfall Bay. Explore the Port Arthur Historic Site and learn about Tasmania’s convict past. Optional evening tours include a Ghost Tour or Isle of the Dead Cemetery Tour.

Day 7 – Port Arthur → Bicheno 

Drive north to the scenic East Coast, stopping at beaches and coastal lookouts before arriving in Bicheno. Explore Freycinet National Park with short or long hikes to coastal viewpoints, relax on pristine beaches and spot local wildlife. Seaside dining with Tasmanian seafood specialties.

Day 8 – Bicheno → Derby/Barnbougle/Bridport

  • Bridport: relax and enjoy the seaside

Day 8 – Bridport → Launceston 

Drive to Launceston, stopping at scenic towns en route, Take a riverside stroll or visit a local bar or live music venue.

Day 10 - Launceston 

  • Enjoy breakfast followed by a stroll through Launceston's boutiques or City Park.
  • Visit Cataract Gorge Reserve, ride the chairlift, cross the suspension bridge, and unwind at the café.
