Include the rugged west coast, Strahan and a Gordon River cruise to include an immersive wilderness contrast.

Day 1 – Burnie

  • Explore Burnie’s boutique shops and admire its Art Deco and Federation architecture.
  • Visit the Federation Street Museum and Burnie Regional Art Gallery, then enjoy a coastal walk along the foreshore.
  • Visit Burnie Park to see the Giant Freshwater Crayfish sculpture and stroll to nearby Oldaker Falls.
  • Drive to Hellyer Road Distillery for the Whisky Walk Tour and tastings.
  • In the evening, dine by the waterfront before watching the Burnie Little Penguins return to shore at dusk.

Day 2 – Burnie →  Cradle Mountain

  • Drive south with scenic stops at Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden and Guide Falls, then visit historic Waratah, known for its waterfall and early hydro-powered street lighting.
  • Arrive at Cradle Mountain and explore short alpine trails around the lodge, spotting wombats, wallabies, and echidnas. Visit the Tasmanian Devil sanctuary, with an optional after-dark feeding tour.
  • Enjoy mountain dining featuring Tasmanian produce, craft beers, and regional wines.

Day 3 – Cradle Mountain → Strahan

  • Walk around Dove Lake and enjoy alpine scenery.
  • Drive west through rainforest and rugged mountain passes toward Strahan. Optional stops include Tullah, Rosebery, Montezuma Falls, or Zeehan’s West Coast Heritage Centre.
  • Relax on the Strahan waterfront with sunset views over Macquarie Harbour.

Day 4 – Strahan → Hobart

  • Choose a classic West Coast experience: a Gordon River cruise through World Heritage wilderness and Sarah Island, the West Coast Wilderness Railway, or a gentle walk to Hogarth Falls.
  • Travel southeast with optional stops at Queenstown, Derwent Bridge (The Wall in the Wilderness), and Mt Field National Park to walk to Russell Falls. Continue past historic New Norfolk to Hobart.
  • Enjoy waterfront restaurants and bars.

Day 5 – Hobart → Bicheno

  • Relax at Battery Point, explore Salamanca Place, then visit MONA by river cruise or tour kunanyi / Mt Wellington for panoramic views.
  • Drive north to the East Coast, stopping at beaches and lookouts en route.
  • Seafood or local dining by the water.

Day 6 – Bicheno → Launceston

  • Watch the sunrise over the ocean.
  • Explore Freycinet National Park with short or long hikes to coastal viewpoints including Wineglass bay.
  • Relax on pristine beaches and spot local wildlife.
  • Drive to Launceston, stopping at scenic towns.
  • Dine at restaurants showcasing Tasmanian produce and wines riverside.
  • Visit a local bar or live music venue.

Day 7 Launceston

  • Enjoy breakfast followed by a stroll through Launceston's boutiques or City Park.
  • Visit Cataract Gorge Reserve, ride the chairlift, cross the suspension bridge, and unwind at the café.
