Include historic Stanley, The Nut and old-town charm, for a slower scenic circuit.

Day 1 – Burnie

  • Browse local shops and admire Burnie’s Art Deco and Federation buildings. 
  • Visit the Federation Street Museum and Burnie Regional Art Gallery.
  • Visit the Giant Freshwater Crayfish Sculpture and the original Burnie Inn in Burnie Park; stroll to Oldaker Falls.
  • Drive to Hellyer Road Distillery for the Whisky Walk Tour and tastings.
  • Watch the Burnie Little Penguins return to shore at dusk.

Day 2 – Burnie → Stanley 

Morning 🏞️

  • Explore more of Burnie’s scenic lookouts and visit Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden and Guide Falls.

Afternoon ⛰️

  • Drive to Stanley and climb, or take the chairlift, up The Nut for panoramic views.
  • Visit Highfield House and the giant photo frame.
  • Stroll through the historic town, browse local shops, and enjoy a fresh crayfish at Hursey’s or the Pub

Day 3 – Stanley → Cradle Mountain

Morning 🌷

  • Travel back toward Wynyard, stopping at Boat Harbour, Table Cape Lighthouse, and the tulip fields.
  • Optional visits include Wonders of Wynyard, a Creative paper-making tour, or a meal at The Vault restaurant.

Afternoon 🚗

  • Drive to the historic town of Waratah, famous for its waterfall and for being the site of the first hydro-powered street lighting from 1866.
  • Arrive at Cradle Mountain, explore short lodge trails, and visit the Tasmanian Devil Sanctuary.

Day 4 – Cradle Mountain → Strahan 

  • Walk around Dove Lake alpine trails, and wildlife spotting. 
  • Drive to Strahan along scenic western routes. 
  • Choose a classic West Coast experience:
    • Gordon River Cruise through World Heritage wilderness, Huon pine forests, and Sarah Island OF
    • Wild Coast Wilderness Railway journey through deep rainforest

Day 5 – Strahan → Hobart 

  • Take a Long scenic drive via Queenstown, The Wall in the Wilderness, Tarraleah, Mt Field (Russell Falls), Salmon Ponds, and New Norfolk.
  • Arrive in Hobart, stroll the Waterfront and Salamanca Place with local cafés/restaurants/bars.

Day 6 – Hobart → Port Arthur 

  • Relax at a café in Battery Point , explore Salamanca Place and galleries.
  • Drive to Port Arthur on the Tasman Peninsula, consider an optional detour to historic Richmond along the way
  • Stop in at Eaglehawk Neck,Tessellated Pavement, amazing coastal formations at the Blowhole, Tasman’s Arch, the Devil’s Kitchen and Waterfall Bay. 
  • Explore the Port Arthur Historic Site, learning about convict history. 
  • optional Tasman Peninsula Wilderness Cruise, Isle of the Dead Cemetery Tour, or Port Arthur Ghost Tour after dark. 
  • Stay at Port Arthur, or take the easy drive back to Hobart

Day 7 – Port Arthur → Bicheno 

  • Drive north to the scenic East Coast, stopping at beaches and coastal lookouts before arriving in Bicheno. 
  • Explore Freycinet National Park with short or long hikes to coastal viewpoints, relax on pristine beaches and spot local wildlife.
  • Seaside dining with Tasmanian seafood specialties.

Day 8 – Bicheno → Launceston 

  • Watch the sunrise over the ocean.
  • Drive to Launceston, stopping at scenic towns en route, 
  • Take a riverside stroll or visit a local bar or live music venue.

Day 9 - Launceston

  • Enjoy breakfast followed by a leisurely stroll through Launceston's boutiques or City Park.
  • Visit Cataract Gorge Reserve, ride the chairlift, cross the suspension bridge, and unwind at the café.
