Discover some of the best local fishing locations — from tranquil dams to scenic coastal waters.

Blythe River (Heybridge) Flowing into the sea at Heybridge, the Blythe River is known for bream and trout fishing. You can fish from the shore near the estuary or head upstream for a more secluded freshwater experience. Easy access from the Bass Highway makes this a convenient option for both locals and visitors.

Emu River This accessible river offers good bream fishing near the estuary and trout further upstream. Look for access points near South Burnie and Wivenhoe.

Red Rock (Cooee Point) A popular rock and beach fishing area just west of Burnie. Expect to find salmon, flathead, and occasional squid.

Cam River (Somerset)  This estuary is great for beginners and families, with bream, mullet, and even trevally. Fishing platforms and nearby parking make it easy to access.

Pet Reservoir Dam  Located inland near Ridgley, Pet Dam is a peaceful freshwater spot ideal for catching trout. It's well-stocked and suited to both fly and bait fishing. A great option for families or those wanting a quiet day outdoors.

Guide Reservoir Dam  Another inland location popular with trout anglers. Located further up from Guide Falls, it’s a quiet, scenic dam worth exploring with a freshwater licence.

Natone Hills Fly Fishery
This private stocked fly fishery offers a well-maintained and scenic setting, perfect for learning and practicing fly fishing. Ideal for beginners; fly lessons and gear hire often available.
