New pump track opening - Launch!

Published on 23 September 2022

Over recent years, View Road Reserve has been evolving to be a community hub for a range of recreational uses with a disc/frisbee golf course, dog off-leash area, walking tracks….and now the latest addition - a new pump track!

On Tuesday October 4th, the Burnie City Council & YFCC will be partnering to host a school holiday activity targeted at our local youth to officially launch the new pump track. The pump track has recently been constructed by the specialist Tasmanian construction company, Ridemore. It is state of the art with elements for everyone from beginners to experienced riders – what a great asset for the Burnie community!

The launch event will include announcing the winner of the Name the Pump Track Competition which is currently open to the community for ideas. Not only does the winner have the honour of naming Burnie’s new pump track, but they will also win $1,100 to spend on a new bike and helmet from West Beach Cycles.

The Launch event will include mountain biking workshops by Rideo, pedal-powered smoothies by the Bicycle Network, free lunch, activities by Reclink Australia and of course the official launch ceremony for the pump track!

Event Details:

View Road Reserve, Burnie
11am – 1pm, Tuesday 4 October
Announcement of competition winner: 12pm.

Rest assured however that there will be a broader event to acknowledge the opening of the entire reserve, including all of its users and uses, hopefully when the weather is warmer and the after the Council have considered names for the Mountain Bike Trails, the name of the reserve overall and have completed the Master Plan for the site.  More information on this event will be provided in due course by the members of the View Road Reserve Working Group.
