New regional fortnightly kerbside recycling

One of the new 240-litre recycling bins on display at Council's City Offices.
* The introduction of the new regional recycling collection by Veolia means the final Jones black crate collection will be during 24-28 August.
* The new fortnightly yellow-lid wheelie bin collection will start on 21 September.
* In the meantime, don't forget you can keep filling your old black recycling crate and deposit any recyclables for FREE at the Burnie Waste Management Centre.
* The new fortnightly kerbside recycling service is offered to all residential properties that pay the recycling rate.
* Currently rural and commercially Zoned properties (as indicated on your rates notice) are not entitled to this service.
* Council is investigating opportunities to expand the service areas to include elements of the rural community in the fortnightly service.
* Possible arrangements to enable interested businesses to have access to the domestic service are in review. If your business is in a residential street receiving the new kerbside service and you would like to be billed and included please indicate your interest by filling out a New Service Form.
* A calendar showing collection dates has been included in an information pack with each bin delivered, it can also be found on the Cradle Coast website.
* If your current waste bin has a yellow lid please call Veolia to be added to the list for an identification sticker to be placed on it.
* For any other queries please call Veolia on 6427 4646.

Changes to Burnie's water and sewerage
Burnie City Council is currently distributing a brochure to residents on changes to the muncipality's water and sewerage.
On 1 July the new North West water and sewerage corporation will be known as Cradle Mountain Water.
This means Burnie ratepayers will no longer pay Council for water and sewerage services and will receive a separate bill from the new corporation.
Council strongly opposed the State Government's water and sewerage reform since it was first proposed 18 months ago.
Despite having fought the good fight, Council has no option than to comply with the reform - it is now law.
