WEEKEND MUSIC MAKING WORKSHOP
The Burnie City Council in conjunction with the Burnie Brass Band and the Burnie Concert Band organised a Weekend Music Making Workshop which was held on 13th & 14th June at the Cooee Memorial Hall and at the Burnie Civic Centre. This was a very successful event with 24 local participants and approximately 40 students from the Launceston College Music Centre. Facilitating the program as Musical Director was Mr Peter Quigley BA MusEduc, MEd Studies, TTC and Head of the Launceston College Music Centre and the DoE's Esk Band and Instrumental Program - together with five specialised instrumental tutors and conductors also from Launceston. A special guest for the weekend was Major Peter Grant, Officer Commanding/Music Director, Australian Army Band Melbourne.
The Workshop was very intensive and challenged all participants to read new music and to work together as a team in small and large ensembles, they also participated in instrumental tutorials and became actively involved in the elective and recreational parts of the weekend program.
