Application for Financial Assistance Clubs and Organisations 2009 - Round 2

Each year Council provides financial assistance to clubs and organisations, Round One for 2009 opened on 14 March 2009 and closed on 1 April 2009.

The Burnie City Council's Financial Assistance Grants program aims to support community clubs and organisations to initiate or establish programs, projects and activities on a fair and equitable basis.  Applications for Financial Assistance to clubs and Community Organisations are made available in two rounds per financial year and must be spent within that financial year unless otherwise agreed.  A Club or Community organisation may only apply for Financial Assistance once per financial year eg: if you were successful in your application for Financial Assistance in Round One then you will not be eligible to apply for Financial Assistance in Round Two.

Applications by Clubs and Community Organisations for Financial Assistance must be made on the form provided by Council and must include a copy of the previous year' accounts and audited Financial Statement and any other information requested on the application.  Applications which do not supply all required documentation will not be considered.  Financial assistance must be for a specific project and the club or organisation's willingness to contribute to the project will be taken into account.  All applications will be submitted to, reviewed and approved by a meeting of Council.

During 2008/2009, Rounds One and Two saw twenty six community clubs and organisations receive financial assistance.  Successful applicants were:-

  • Community Transport Services
  • North West Environment Centre
  • Burnie Netball Association
  • Burnie Arts Council
  • Stringalong Club
  • Salvation Army
  • Burnie Dockers Football Club
  • Cradle Coast Outrigger Canoe Club
  • South Burnie Football Club
  • Natone Football Club
  • Burnie Amateur Swimming Club
  • Burnie Surf Life Saving Club
  • Big hART Inc
  • Tasdeaf
  • Make-A-Wish
  • Coastal Budgerigar Society Inc
  • The Salvation Army Burnie Corps
  • Australian Legion of Ex-Servicemen & Women

In addition to the Financial Assistance Grants Program, individuals who are residents of Burnie and/or members of a club located in Burnie and through that Club membership is representing Tasmania or Australia in national or international events, conferences, seminars and sporting championships are eligible to apply for a $100 contribution toward their expenses on provision of written advice from the appopriate body.  Applications for the State Representatives program can be made at anytime throughout the year, however Council's policy allows only one payment per person per financial year.

The Burnie City Council's Financial Assistance Grants Round Two, will open on Monday 21 September 2009 and will close at 5pm on Wednesday 21 October, 2009.  An advertisement will be placed in the Advocate on Saturday 19 September and application forms will be available for downloading on Council's website during this time.  All applications received will be submitted for review and approval at Council's November meeting, a letter will be sent to applicants advising of Council's decision following this meeting.
